(Fairlawn, Ohio, USA) August 27, 2026 — Smithers, a provider of testing,  consulting, information, and compliance services, announced the acquisition of  ACS Laboratory located near Tampa, Florida. The acquisition immediately enables  Smithers to provide national hemp testing and introduces dedicated peptide  testing services. Following completion of the required Florida regulatory approval,  Smithers will expand cannabis testing services into the Florida market.  

The Sun City Center facility, about 25 miles south of Tampa, is expected to  establish a strong operational presence in Florida, supporting licensed cultivators,  processors, and manufacturers. The facility is intended to join Smithers’  established cannabis testing network, which includes operations in Arizona, Illinois,  Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, and Ohio. Clients in Florida will benefit from  the same scientific rigor, quality and accuracy of data, competitive turnaround  times, and high touch customer service that Smithers provides across all the states  in which it operates.  

In addition, the Florida facility is a DEA-registered laboratory, allowing Smithers to  provide USDA-compliant hemp testing to cultivators and processors nationwide,  develop advanced analytical methods, and conduct compliant research initiatives  across the life sciences, including collaborative projects with research partners  such as CannaMetrix, LLC (Cannametrix.org).
