A lower dose matters most for people who consume edibles infrequently. However, frequency matters more than the dosage because frequency determines how much THC accumulates in the body over time.
The easiest way to determine how much THC an edible contains is to review its Certificate of Analysis (COA). A COA is a third-party lab report that verifies a product's potency test results and confirms that the contents match the label claims. If an edible is labeled as containing 5 mg of THC per serving, the COA should confirm that amount.
Most brands provide access to the COA through a QR code printed on the package or a link on the product webpage. If you can't find a batch-specific COA, consider choosing a different brand.

Drinking water may dilute urine, leading to inconclusive results or a false negative drug test. But there is little evidence that it meaningfully speeds THC clearance. With chronic use, THC accumulates in adipose tissue because it is highly lipophilic. After cannabis use stops, THC slowly redistributes from fat back into the bloodstream and is metabolized into THC-COOH for excretion. This creates a long "tail" of elimination that is not seen after a single edible.
